Our Story

Get to Know Us
One man’s legacy. A lifetime of giving. The joy that journeys on.
Darryl “Snake” Oeder wasn’t just someone you met – he was someone you felt. His laugh echoed across rooms, his bear hugs swallowed you whole, and his heart was big enough to hold everyone he knew. He was the guy who’d slip you a “lucky” $20 at the casino, show up at 2 a.m. to haul you out of trouble (or be the one getting you into trouble – in his younger years), or make you family no matter where you came from. He was a protector, a provider, a prankster, and a fiercely loyal friend.
When we lost Snake to Grade IV Glioblastoma (an extremely aggressive, terminal brain cancer), the world lost a rare kind of soul. But what he left behind – his loyalty, his love for people, his one-of-a-kind way of showing up – that’s the heartbeat of this foundation. It pushed us to continue to do what he always did – take care of people. That’s why we started The Oeder Foundation. To honor a man who gave so much, by continuing to give in his name.
The Foundation channels Darryl’s spirit into real action. We raise money for brain cancer and neurological disease research, support families walking the same hard road we did, and offer scholarships to help kids access the kind of strong, values-rooted education Snake believed in.
And once a year, we do what Snake would’ve wanted – we throw one heck of a party.
Snake's Country Jamboree
It’s got everything he loved – live music, cold drinks, many laughs, old friends, new friends and great stories, all of what made his world full. It’s not just a fundraiser – it’s a reminder of who he was. Of what matters. Of how one life, lived fully and generously, can ripple outward for years.
We’ll never fill his boots – but we’re damn sure walking his path.

How We Have Helped
At The Oeder Foundation, we believe in showing up when life hits hardest. Our support is personal, local, and rooted in the same kind of love and loyalty Snake showed to everyone he knew.
In 2023, we donated in support of a local dad fighting Grade II Glioma, a similar kind of brutal brain cancer Snake had. With two young kids attending a local private Christian school, our gift helped ease the burden of overwhelming emotional and financial pressures that families face during these devasting times – covering everyday needs, creating space for precious time together, and reminding them that the community support was with them.
In 2024, we rallied for a Lebanon native hit with ALS who was just shy of his 50th birthday. This diagnosis flips a family’s world upside down and we stepped in – helping to ease some of the financial strain so he could focus on what mattered most, making lasting memories with family and friends.
More than anything, we wanted our recipients to feel the same kind of love and support Snake gave so freely – unshakeable, generous, and real.
These gifts weren’t just about money. It was about standing beside a family when it matters most. Because that’s what Snake would’ve done – and exactly what we’re here to do.
These families are the reason we do what we do and they’re just the beginning.
With your help, we’ll continue standing in the gap for families facing the unimaginable – offering more than money: hope, pride, and a steady hand full of love, something that Snake would’ve given them himself if he were here. Darryl will forever be the brightest light, the loudest laugh and the kindest person that ever filled a room.
